Android app issues

I don't have my ebay and PayPal accounts linked on my android tablet or phone so it was a shock to use BIN and not have to log in to paypal to complete a transaction. I checked my paypal security and discovered that pre payment is allowed for Google Play and a bay Europe for fee paying.
I checked My ebay account details and the option to link accounts is there but not activated.
So the question is How did ebay get my paypal password ?
My ebay app updated recently so it must have somehow installed the Faster checkout or Turbo checkout with out asking me. But if it did surely it would need my paypal password ?
I contacted both parties and I am waiting for a return call from the technical team. I checked my ebay app settings and couldn't find any settings or options that disable any link.

I have to admit I'm kinda neolithic in my approach. I never load apps for purchase sites on my phone; not ebay, not PayPal, nothing. Even though it's a little inconvenient, I'd rather keep everything separate. Thanks for the heads up! I'm not savvy enough to catch them at their mischief so I keep it as awkward as possible.

John, I remember you posting about this problem before. If it worries you, why not change your password every time you log on ? Tedious, I know, but at least you will have peace of mind.

Peter,
I contacted ebay about my concerns. The assistant was very helpful but unfamiliar with the Androld app but did explain that there should be an option to unlink accounts when on the Place the order page. This option did not materialise at the payment stage though. He put an item I my basket live online and we went through checkout to see how the process should work but again the supposed unlink option was not displayed. After several phone calls he advised that my device could have remembered my password so advised clearing the cache and data from the app.
I won't know if this has worked until I buy something else.

aint got any, any type of these "convenient" hand held devices, except for a cell that my wife got me years ago. actually it is more of a paper weight then phone. the more of this app stuff, hand held stuff you have, the potential for more issues, identity theft, big brother, etc? get used to being watched, and once they got ya, they aint ever gonna let go.this aint sci fi, its real. the sad thing is most folks go willingly into the data maw for reasons that i just dont understand. is privacy really a good trade off for convenience?

Maybe its simply because E-bay own paypal, so the sharing of information etc is somewhere in the small print..its a bit like a local garage (Birmingham)who is owned by a company in Newcastle where I recently had my car serviced, as per normal within a week I started to get the usual emails and phone calls asking do I want a service plan which works out twice as much as the service cost me, in the end as they could not talk to me direct so they started ringing my wife to ask her the question" did I want a service plan".
So its simply a case of one company..under 2 different business names sharing information.
My advice is disable the App, change your password and see if that works, also you could state a breach of the data protection act.
