Hens teeth mate....Dr H said:Does this mean that my Cockpit Aviation Irvin is worth a grand too?
This jacket is the finest Irvin style reproduction I have ever seen, it is truly gorgeous and nicer than the Eastman version. Forget the new "Irvin" jackets made in Thruxton, this is TWICE the quality and far more accurate to WW2 originals. Just look at the pics.
It was around £1000, and made in a limited run for Franklin Mint.
It has all the correct period details, such as hooks on stomach and under rear of collar. All the seams and the collar are reinforced in thick Horsehide. No pockets on front, which (unlike the modern "Irvin" jackets) is WW2 issue correct. It could easily be used for re-enactment or film and pass for the real deal, but without the issue of rotten sheepskin as per an original 1940s item.
