Hi there gent,

I’ve got a strange feeling from looking at my jacket….
When it’s zipped up, my zipper is 3,5 cm out of the centre (by my neck)
The manufacturer told me this is fresh leather and it will later’ after wearing ‘be normal….
But now I’ve measured my jacket from side to side and I don’t think by wearing this…,it suddenly will gain 3,5 cm on one side…
Is this normal(what I don’t think) or a manufacturing fault..
Or am I measuring it wrong and this is totally oké ???
Let me know..

RW collars can be way off but that's too much of a difference in the pocket position for a RW.

Yes that’s true, is it was 0,5 cm I could live with it, but 3,5 cm is way too much…. Looks also strange when it’s almost zipped up,, all crooked

Damn. Even when you think you're perfectly happy with a Pak made jacket, stuff like this just seems to crop up.

If your OCD is anything like mine, you'll never unsee it. The jacket must be banished to the furthest reaches of your spare bedroom closet.

What's the chances that it can be returned, now that it's been patched?

I don't think there's anything that can be done. The patch is salvageable at least. If you'd rather not have this jacket end up in a landfill, throw it in a closet and use it for scrap, like if you ever want to try painting your own patches, making pull tabs for your zippers?

Take it as an unfortunate lesson learned, and get another jacket. AVI maybe? Or look around for a used Eastman (or GW? These things do happen) in your size.

Once again, if you have more than a very casual interest in A-2s, you're better off saving your money and getting a GW of ELC, or if on a budget, buying one of those secondhand.

If you're OK with that and aren't fussed with accuracy, then wear it I say, but that would piss me off no end every time I looked at the jacket.

If it’s really bothering you… sell it .
But … if you hadn’t posted it here and told us about it … no one except you, would ever have noticed it . I mean sometimes we make ourselves nuts with these kinds of things and it’s all self imposed anxiety. Man … just wear it and use it as a utility jacket. In time you’ll forget about it. Here’s a factoid for you … I’ve owned about 25 original A2’s over the course of my lifetime … and there wasn’t one of them that didn’t have something wonky on it . We discuss this stuff all the time . One pockets higher , one pockets crooked , the collar is bigger on one side , one sleeve is longer than the other, one pocket is an inch and 1/2 farther from the centerline and zipper, and these are originals!
So if you really want your A2 jacket to be as authentic as possible … Dude .. this is it … you’ve got it ! Some guys here actually tell JC at GW to make their jackets with these off set pieces to replicate originals … Bottom line
Let it go … wear it , sleep in it , wear it in rain , change a flat tire with it . Trust me, in no time you’ll have a jacket that looks like it flew over Germany in 1944.
That’s my advice to you

And it’s shitty indeed… just have bad luck till now with jackets hahahaha.maybe it’s because I’m born at Friday the 13th bad luck seems to follow me
First with ELC, ( but that was NOT their fault, I’ve purchased that b3 back in +/- 2009 via a wholesaler in Holland (brand new) but that jackets was way too big even I told that seller 5 times if it really was the right size for me…then the BK jacket turned out to be a size 46 instead of a 40 when received…, and now this one……been also looking around ( for a few months for an GW or ELC ( 2nd hands) but with my body measurements it’s not that easy
I’ve been now in contact with Aero Leather for a new one…let’s hope that one will come out perfectly for me..for now what Burt just said, I’ll wear the hell out of this jacket..if it’s not zipped up , you don’t even can tell it..
For now I’m waiting for a response from 5* for this issue….
