Aero Leather on Ebay

The appealing feature of this jacket is its original patch, but considering its size condition and repairs and the economic climate IMO it's still way overpriced.

I do love that patch...

I've always liked that one too. Too bad the name tag is worn to the point of complete illegibility. It's photographed attractively but I'm afraid the wear to the jacket looks to be right there with the name tag.
Knowledgeable sellers typically let the market do the bidding for them. Those who are more into $$ than history preservation/appreciation tend to set high prices based on what prices they see "similar", albeit often quite different, items sell.

Hasn't this jacket been on Ebay for over 2 years? I remember seeing it a long, long time ago. How does the seller avoid paying a fortune in listing fees?

This is one I used to own, interestingly being another 5th has the similar worn silver nameplate. I had tried to google the owner but no luck. One thing i've wondered, would he have been "Cole Wilbur" or "Wilbur Cole"?

Thanks Dave, but the one i'm seeing was a B-17 Pilot in Europe- the 5th was in the SWPA. Is there another I'm not seeing?

No, not a result, Andrew ... just establishing that you are looking for a Cole, and not a Wilbur. Searching the other way will find Cole, Wilbur.
