There is a little ol' lady I know that had a vintage shop in the late 60's. We are good friends and she always seems to know the vintage clothes I wear. She pulled up in her '65 Chrysler and popped this jacket out of the trunk.

I near shat m'pants. The patina was incredible and it was in very fine shape. Size 36.

The label is in good shape and has two flyers and a biplane.

Crown Chevron zipper and pocket detail.

I took out my cellphone and snapped these pictures for y'all. Good thing my phone has a 38 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens. Can anyone date this jacket?

Very Aero A2ish others here might give you a better answer on authenticity and history but looks like a beauty of a jacket. Better give that lady a bottle of champers

Aero advertised mail order A2s for the civi market, although servicemen bought them. This one would date from late 1941-through 1942 when they had their three large Wartime contracts for A2s.

Thank you very much Andrew! Lord knows you've seen a lot of jackets.

Skip: That's what I thought too.

I would hazard a guess that the sleeve body junction when done like this is referred to as "Set-In" sleeve construction. Dunno'....

Wish that was a wartime 46 - I love that patina/mismatched hide/colour combination.
