Additional Costs Eastman to Germany

Hi,

does anybody know how much the addtional cost (like taxes etc)- when ordering an Eastman B-10 to an Adress in Germany will be ?
As an Eastman B-10 Jacket costs actual about 820,00 € - it´s quite a lot of money. And as i read what happend to @Brettafett with the ATF B-10.....i´m bit worried.

After all - i´m still thinking of getting a bronson first - so i can check if the jacket fits to my bodytype.....

It would probably be best to contact ELC directly and ask them your question. I'd be surprised if they don't have a good idea of what the shipping costs to most countries in Europe are. Import duties would be another matter though, as those are charged directly by the country that the goods are imported into and based on the country the goods are imported from and the declared value of the goods.

i´ve already mailed with them - but as you mentioned the import duties are problem. So ELC can´t help here....

Unless Eastman and Bronson were copying the same contract (unlikely, to judge by the collar shape), trying on a Bronson won't help you judge the fit of an Eastman B-10. If you're worried about both fit and import duties, my recommendation would be to sit tight through the rest of the pandemic, save a bit of extra money, and take a 2-3 day vacation in England once the pandemic is over. You can then visit ELC in person, try on jackets, buy your jacket right then and there, and carry it home with you, avoiding any import duties.

Thanks everyone. The calculator of @Pilot show about 250 € (for cloth-jacket). So i think the solution of @mulceber would be the best way.
My wife will kill me - a trip to england to buy a jacket. Best way would be to plan the trip as a holiday and say nothing concerning jackets- and visit ELC by chance...... :))

One word of advice though: best to check in with Eastman while you're in the planning stages to make sure they keep an ample stock of B-10s. I would think they do, but it would be a shame to get there only for them to say "oh, no, sorry, we only have 2 B-10s in stock right now, and neither of them fit you. Order one and we'll ship it to Germany."

In terms of convincing the wife, ELC is just a stone's throw away from Dartmoor National Park. Depending on your wife's attitude, subterfuge may not be necessary: "this jacket I want to buy from Eastman has import duties high enough that it makes more sense to buy it in person. There's a lot of great stuff in the neighborhood of Ivybridge (including x, y, z), so, how would you like a long weekend of sight-seeing in the south of England?"

I wonder, is the VAT throughout the whole of the EU?
Because if not you can claim the 20% VAT back at Heathrow.
Also, since the UK is not part of the EU anymore, does that mean german nationals can claim UK tax back at Heathrow for goods bought in the UK?

All questions worth exploring. If Wei's right, this would be great for cost-cutting.

Officially I think that as a EU citizen when you order online from the UK, then either:
a) the seller deducts the British VAT from the price of the product and then you have to pay a fee at the customs consisting of usually three amounts: the EU country VAT, an import duty (depending on the type of the product and it's price) and handling fees; both VAT and import duty are based on price of product + shipping and it doesn't matter if the product is bought new or used;
b) the seller uses a paid duty service; it is usually clarified on the website and the price you see is the final price, no unpleasant surprises.
However I've heard stories (check some relevant threads on TFL) about UK sellers not deducting the British VAT and not using a prepaid service; the EU buyer ends up paying VAT twice (and moreover wrongfully calculated on a net price + UK VAT).

When you travel there then I have no idea if you can get the UK VAT back at the airport; I have never done this when going outside the EU.
