553rd Bomb Squadron patch

As most of you know, a couple weeks ago, I ordered and received my repro B-10 jacket from Five Star. From the moment the order was on, I reflected on how (not IF, mind you!) I would patch this one. After a quick reflexion and toying with the idea of having something CBI related, I finally decided on trying to satisfy the following points:

1. 9th Air Force unit
2. Preferably a B-26 squadron
3. A squadron that, at some point, was based in Belgium
4. A design that would really appeal to me

So after a bit of reseacrh, I decided to go with the 553rd Bomb Squadron, 386th Bomb Group.

Next step was looking for someone willing to do it, preferably in Europe. Our own Ties was too busy roaming the world, trying the métro in Paris and doing model kits :)p), Miroslav Sekulic is not doing much patch work lately due to his day job taking a lot of time, so I decided to have a closer look at @robertld_ww2art 's artwork on Instagram. I contacted Roberto, we discussed the design a bit, he send me a couple sketches in the next 24 hours, and we finally settled on the final design, as close as possible to the pictures of original WW2 553rd patches. A couple days later, he was done with it, after a couple alterations, and I just picked it up from the post office today.

Here is the original printed canvas patch on which Roberto based his work:

And here is the one I received today:

Just waiting on receiving my name tag, and then off to the cobbler to have all of these attached to the B-10.

So here goes, kudos to Roberto on an amazing job!
