Can't see your picture, but here's my Schott circa 1986. I can assure you it had some stories!

What're the badges? More importantly, would you put them on an A-2?

They're assorted punk bands and I believe a Colonel's eagle, albeit worn in such a fashion as not to be confused with military rank. And no, I absolutely would not put them on an A-2.

Fantastic! Sometimes I wish I still had my old Schott, but my girlfriend at the time loaned it to another girl who stuck pins and buttons all over it. When I got it back I was understandably displeased with all the holes and never felt the same about the jacket. In any case I took it with me when I joined the Army and wound up giving it away in 1991, by then strongly preferring my old G-1 anyway (seen here just before my departure from Colorado Springs after finishing my hitch in the Army, August 1990).

Interestingly, this jacket stayed in the family until about 3 years ago. It was a synthetic-collared version with replaced knits and zipper, but it was the only one I could find among the limited offerings in upstate NY pre-Ebay. I had the collar redone in mouton harvested from the hood of an AAF parka. Sometime in '91 I came across a magnificent black label size 42 for $275, but I didn't have the cash at the time. :( I suppose it's just as well as they're not hard to find in that price range nearly two decades later.

My buddy John and I, both wearing Perfectos, at a punk club sometime in the mid 80's.

Perfecto's, eh? I'm not sure what make my "black leather motorcycle jacket" was. It was the "classic" UK 5 zip look. Oddly, I thought that it was not as good as one that someone I knew wore - I now think he had a Mascot. I got it probably in 1978 but offloaded it to a friend within a couple of years, as my taste in music had changed (though offloading a lot of my 7" punk singles was a huge mistake) and I'd moved on to a 40's/50's look (jumble sales and charity shops were great back then) and even had my first A-2 replica from a shop in Islington; always wanted an A-2 but was never very happy with the patina of the jacket, and it got knicked when my flat was burgled - they took the VCR and only probably took the jacket to cover it as they made their getaway!
