Good value for money A-1?

Wow, both look great. Before I used to look for the mint look but now I appreciate the patina and wrinkles, definitely gives that "been there" look to the jacket. Mine needs some years to achieve that

Babysat mine until somehow it ended up with a couple of oil spots (probably olive) when I visited a Spanish restaurant…annoyed the hell out of me at the time (even sent it to Byson Leather for an attempt at stain removal…didn’t work). Did me a favour really..having been christened I now just wear any enjoy it and its gathered more stains since..part of the character..now salty looking.

Funny you say that, I have an Eastman A-2 that got some stain on it. By just wearing the jacket they sort of just fade out over time with use. The jacket look a lot better over time, especially if you do basic care of it.

That’s a stolen GW image with a photoshopped label. Nice!
You know what? I reported a couple Indian sellers to ebay for posting up stolen images and calling jackets "Buzz Ricksons" etc. I sent all the evidence and eBay replied back to me that after an investigation, no fraud was found. I literally sent links to the websites they used for "models" who were from another company's jackets. They ignored it. F*ck ebay.

Indeed it is. John was good enough to PM me and highlight this.

I have tried to stop a seller from using my photos from some Headwind Mfg Jackets that I personally have designed and produced. I have tried twice in the last year. Both times "No evidence of fraud was found". I was the ones who took the original photos.

They are not interested in eliminating fraud. They are more concerned with making money from these fraudulent sales.

When I have time, I am going to write up a more detailed essay to eBay. I don't expect a favorable response but I have to try.

This is one of the biggest problems with FleaBay now, they don't give a shit about stuff like this, like John says so long as the moolah keeps bumping up the coffers they couldn't give a damn.

It was great back in 2002ish but it's absolute crap now. I would never sell anything on there now and I wouldn't buy anything on it either - last time was 2015 and I don't miss it at all. Might be just me but I will never put a penny their way again.

So I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a Five Start A-1 with the below specifications. My logic is it should just make a good everyday jacket for summer alongside the ECL.
  • Seal Brown capeskin
  • Small original-style pockets
  • Horn buttons
  • Seal brown knits
  • Seal brown thread
  • Brown cotton lining
Any thoughts?

I found Five Star’s cape skin pretty flimsy. Weirdly, their lamb skin seemed more substantial. I’d go for that.
