  • I've learned through trial and error and a lot of expense that any original contract A-2's in size 40 are to small and 44 to big but any size 42 always fits me just right. haha
And I have an original Dubow AC-27798 with size tag 42 and it fits like a glove but the horsehides cracking up. Another original in goatskin would be nice.
    What have you got?

Hey Grant ~ I was looking through the club back-list and spotted a reply from you to a fellow member a year ago that you had a number of original A-2's in size 42.
I prefer the look and feel of the originals and after over fifty years of wear an tear on my ole Doniger its come time to hang er up for display only.
So if you still have a few A-2's still wearable in the $1000 - $1500. range it might suit me fine?

    Hey caddy,
Yes, I do have a few originals in the $1500 range. Can you give me measurements of your sweet looking Doniger so I can see what might work for you?

    Best,

My Doniger was labeled a 44 so always a little big because I've always been an old fashioned size 42 at 5 foot ten inches and weigh 150 pounds.
I'm looking for an original with good leather, decent knits and lining but not perfect cause I don't mind a little wear. But I do prefer that any jacket I buy has its original label and size tag still intact.
    Thanks Doug
Grant,As the member below stated, We corresponded years ago, back when I was a regular on the Aero Leather forum that Ken, in Scotland, had up. Do you know who might be able to stencil a Tank destroyer thing on the back of a Tanker Jacket? My email address is: [email protected]

Did see a set of stencils for the armoured triangle and the tank ‘panther’ on fleabay..... each consisted of about three or four and you built up the picture in layers. So they are out there.... not sure of size....
Grant, I'm Mark Tomasik...we've corresponded before (long time ago, I'm afraid). I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a pair of 1937 Levis and wanted to get your thoughts on sizing. I think we're about the same height, 5'11", if I go the to store and buy a current pair, I buy 32x32. What size do you think I should grab in the 1937 pair? Thanks....my email is: [email protected], if that's easier.

    Hey Mark,
Since I haven't bought LVC in quite a while, afraid I might give wrong sizing info. Are these '37's current LVC made from Japanese denim sewn in Europe?
FWIW, in older LVC (made in USA from Cone Mills denim) I've bought one size up from my normal waist size. The only LVC I bought actual waist size was the 1944 501's.
Regardless, the 1937 501's are awesome if you can find them!
    Sorry, I wasn't much help!
