The A-2 Pocket Flap

Striker

New Member
There seems to be a lot of different pocket designs on original A-2's. It seems that, looking at photos, that some pockets were designed so that the pocket flap was slightly wider than the pocket, while others look like the flap is the same width as the pocket. Is this correct?

Also, is there a typical pocket width and pocket height? Did any A-2 have a significantly larger or smaller pocket compared to most?

Thanks,

Striker,

There are definitely certain features of A-2 pockets that vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. For example the beveling of the lower pocket corners on Bronco's and United Sheeplined jackets. The length of the pocket flap vertically is also variable, and of course the curvature of the bottom edge of the flap varies between makers.....such as the highly desirable (my opinion) and classic look of the Dubow flap.

Striker, have you had a chance to visit the Acme Depot website yet?? Marc gives a lot of info on pocket designs and differences in his discussion of the A-2 jacket in general.
