Painting Rank on A-2 Shoulders

I've decided to try painting on some rank insignia. I've got a Goodwear with painted on rank and it looks pretty good. It's also gotta be a heck of a lot easier than trying to sew it on. Can anyone tell me what type of paint or dye works best, and most of all, how do I do the masking or stenciling? Any suggestions on masking material that won't leak? I realize in the war years masking and paint/dye types were all over the place, with a gazillion different methods and materials. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
You can use acrylics (angelus brand is easy to use) or enamels, more bright but less easy to use.
I suggest you to paint without masking, with a firm hand to make things correct. Use a form in the jacket in order the leather is perfectly fitted on.
