OLDER ELC B-3

Roughwear

Well-Known Member
I recently acquired this unworn size 44 duo tone ELC B-3. It appears to have been made several years ago. John Lever may be able to date it with accuracy. Unlike the current ELC house B-3s, it does not have a Crown zip, but a robust repro Talon, with an original M-42 slider which I added. I have been on the look out for a repro B-3 to wear this winter as my original B-3s are too valuable to wear regularly. I really like duo tone B-3s and this one is very comfortable to wear.

Juncker-badges ?
I bought that purely on spec as it was listed as an ELC RAF Irvin without photos. I asked for a refund when I received the photos. £350 is a bargain. It's OK but not one of Gary's better jackets when compared to the one Paul had for sale or the one that I sold to Vic. The seller told me it was 10 years old.
It was only worn once in an open top Porsche I was told. It is totally mint.
I am still waiting for the refund from Paypal though it was issued one the day of the sale[last Sunday]....bas**rds !

It looks better in your photos than the one I received from Tim. I did tell him to re-list at a higher BIN that £350 but he just wasn't interested. £450 would have been nearer the mark don't you think.
Going to do a flip ?

Great fit too, Andrew. On second thought I wish I would have got the russet two tone instead of the seal single color B-3 that I got, Not much of a regret
but still

I purchased an ELC Star A-2 and house B-2 cap in the mid 90s from HPA, both had the awful "pink" thread, kept the cap, sold the Star, the thread was most annoying. How long did they use this thread before they changed???

This B-3 looks very nice and a good fit...good for the chilly English weather....

This jacket is a perfect example of what John and Andrew have been saying. Look at the sheepskin and HH facings: solid, the sheepskin doesn't look like crumpled up brown paper that's been flattened out, all crinkly and dry, the HH facings aren't artifically grained by being pre-dried, as I said way back when this perceived demand for worn , old looking new repro's had gotten way out of hand. I wonder if some of the sheepskin jackets made today will hold up as well as that one 10 years from now.
