New "Beck 333" by Diamond Clothing Co.

Gents,

Another new jacket style that I am producing...in my down time from working on GW jackets. This keeps me sane and interested, as only so many A-2's can be done, in one stretch.

This time it is the earliest Moto/Aviation jacket by Beck. This one from the early 1930's served as the template for MANY jackets to follow. Though Rin Tanaka swears in his books that these were made by Schott, I think he may be off. Beck was located in Everett, Mass as was Leathertogs, and I firmly believe that the latter made these jackets. The styling is just so very much like their own offerings of the day.

Offered here in Dark Seal Brown, is a 3oz, chrome tanned, veg retan, Front Quarter Steerhide. Waldes copies of early "Hookless" zips throughout. This style has a much smaller shoulder profile, higher arm hole and fits very differently to the later Buco. It is a very trim fitting jacket.

HWT has been applied to the leather prior to cutting. And a small amount of light aging has been done overall.

NOTE OF INTEREST... since several Japanese companies make this jacket, with the original "Beck Northeaster Flying Togs" label, and I have no interest in being sued, I have chosen to make my own
version under a slightly different name, and with rather more updated graphics! Thank God for a background in Adverting graphic design!

Beautiful jacket! I'm always interested to see more offerings in the moto/utility category. Although I'm not personally familiar with the 333 pattern, my recent acquisition of a Good Wear cafe racer proves that a jacket needn't have an action back to allow good freedom of movement. I'm curious if that's the case with this model as it has a very clean look across the back. Nice work!

Dave,

The first and arguably best moto jacket and you've absolutely killed it. Props man! Priced same as your buco riders?

Slightly more as the work is almost twice as much... where my J-100 run $949.00 USD this jacket will go for $1249.00 USD
this is much like the Navy Jackets for JC... a LOT of moving parts, but a ton of fun to make too.

Hey All,

I'm the lucky guy that snagged this new masterpiece from Diamond Dave. I'd been on the lookout for a D pocket motorcycle jacket for quite some time, and when I saw this posting form Dave I immediately sent an inquiry about it. Turns out I wear the same size as Dave so we made a deal. Less than a week later the Beck had crossed the border and arrived at my house.
This jacket looks even better in person than in the photos, the steer hide is a rich dark brown with plenty of character and grain. It is the perfect weight , 3 oz, it is heavy enough to feel robust and offer good protection, yet it's soft and comfortable right out of the box. I had considered the offerings from others like Aero, but I did not want another super heavy, stiff as a board jacket. In comparison, I had recently tried on a Vanson Highwayman in their competition weight cowhide, and I could not imagine riding in it all day.
I typically expect an action back on a riding jacket, but the high arm holes and narrow shoulders on the Beck provide for excellent movement, and do not bind at all when reaching for the bars. As you can see in Dave's pictures, the main back is one piece with kidney area lower belt section, that gives a very clean look. The sleeves are slightly longer than a street jacket, so they are the perfect length when outstretched. Dave's stitching and the hardware used are top notch.
I'll add a couple photos when I get some good sunlight to take some.

Thanks Dave, I couldn't be happier!

Brian
