New Acquisition(s)

Just acquired these four A-2s from a collection. All leather is in great shape with everything working. Some replaced knits on two and one without a label. "Dame Satan" was in Maguire's first flight jacket book, so it's pretty well known. Crusher goes with one jacket that belong to a flight surgeon attached to a fighter group in the pacific. One Dubow 27798, one Bronco 29191, one Rough Wear 18091 and one without a label.

Great stuff. Not enough originals being posted any more. The Dame Satan jacket is a killer. More photos of them all please.

The untagged jacket (top left) is typical for a Perry (looks like HH 16175P, but I might be mistaken and it might be a goat 23377).

JC also ID'd it as a Perry, and since it's not goat, it's a 16175P.

Could still be a 23377 jacket.

As mentioned on the Goodwear site and also in the Eastman book some of the 23377 contract jackets were horsehide.

Anyone? JC?

Got an email from JC yesterday and he said he's never seen a 23377 in horse, in person or pictures, so the odds are heavily stacked in favor of the 16175P contract.

A good photo of the zipper puller and box might help to identify the contract.

I will get a picture of the "box" later today and post it.

Unless it has been replaced, the 23377 has an M-40 Conmar No.5 (nickel plated); 16175P has an M-43 Conmar No 5 - gilt brass...
