Congratulations, that's a great jacket!
I have one as well - an Albert & Turner - and I love it.
I think these B-11 are way understimated, and often overlooked: It's still possible to find a very good cheap one, but they're all the way the real thing, great jacjekets!
Congrats again!

Other than a brief run of B-9s by Eddie Bauer(an original mfgr), I wonder why more of these are not reproduced. They would be a great functional coat.

in fact, the fur; or damaged or discomfortable is replaced by sewing another hood (from M-43)

so, one question in my mind....
all B-11 had the fur inside the hood, or some manufacturer had a single cotton hood ? ?
that's a possible reason why this hood was dubbed to gain warmth?

really don't know

someone an idea

thankssssssss

Marcel, I noticed the lining of the hood when you emailed me the pics but assumed that it was meant to be that way but looking at your close up it's definitely been modified. WW2 modified, possibly. I wouldn't be surprised if some B-11's were made without a full mouton lining. My B-9 has a quilted lining with alpaca trim, as seen here, and it was definitely made that way. Some B-9's and B-11' were made without any hoods at all. I might have a button to suit your jacket in my spares box. I'll have a look.

thanks Peter for the complement of info and comparison with your B-9

mine is modified, but no idea if it was done during or post war

really be intersted to know if some B-11 were made with a hood without fur

The B9 is supposed to have quilted down lining, while the B11 is alpaca, but both of them should have the fully fur lined hood... as far as I saw in pics of WWII original ones (but I haven't seen so many to be totally sure about it).
Maybe later pakas were different, the specs were modified...
but I think that yours, Dujardin, must be a WWII one for sure, and since doesn't seem very worn probably was not used much after the war - so the hood modification could be "Theater made", maybe to fit inside the hood crusher and earphones...
just trying to figure out what happened!

Not in all cases. Look at the pic of my B-9. Some had no hoods at all. Marcel's jacket is WW2 for sure. Neither the B-9 nor B-11 were made postwar.

Maybe the ones I considered later issues were just made for the civilian market - this could be a reason for different specs.

Look at the photos. It doesn't resemble a B-9 at all. Jackets are often seen with white labels or even black ones marked B-9 or B-11 but they may have a split hood, a large tooth zipper or varying spec. All postwar civilian jackets. B-15's are the most commonly copied jackets. You have to be careful.

These are exactly the ones I saw so many times. Split hoods and big zippers. I just thought these were USAF later issues.
Thanks for the info!
