Hi all, the final test jacket is in and looks good. We are now in full production. A lot of details were added and some changes were made. I now feel like we have achieved a nice reproduction of the Navy's first leather flight jacket.
Final forum price is $369. 100% wool knits are available for an additional $30.

You can purchase directly from me until I get my website up and running. Payments accepted are: Check, MO, or Paypal.
I also have an ebay listing up but it is a much better deal here through the forum.

Thanks guys! I am happy with how it turned out. There was a lot of details added and I think they all came out nice. I like how the collar reinforcement tabs look and how the buttons and thread and snaps all look together. We got full customization options on these jackets too. We can add inside pockets and do full tailoring.

Is the body tapered in size down toward the waist or is it straight down?

The jacket is definitely tapered from pit to hip. It would just not fit right otherwise and would be very labcoat-esque. It is not so evident in the photos so I see why you would ask. Updates are forthcoming to the listing.

The pictured jacket has a chest of 21.5" and a hip of 18.5" at the top of the knit.

Regards,
Jay

This is very nice Skyhawk - there's been a market for a good basic A1 for years and you've finally done it. How thick is the goat, is it 2.5oz? Does your manufacturer make other leather garments?

Thanks! Not sure on the OZ rating of the goat but it is very tough and grainy. It is thin with the thickness at under 2mm, which makes it a perfect hide for this style of jacket. And a great weight for summer and springtime wear. Light weight Capeskin is now also available.

There are more styles of jackets currently in the design stage. The first new release will be a reproduction of the Gordon & Ferguson 31-800P A-1 contract. It is planned to be in production by August 1st.
I posted some info here previously:

Thanks for the interest in the jackets!

Website will be up shortly @

In the meantime, the 37J1 is available on ebay in all sizes as well as a best offer on a size 48 Capeskin with Wool knits:
