Hi,

This is what I know about this jacket...
  1. Gifted to Dad by Uncle (Dad was born in 1951)
  2. Uncle was in the Armed Forces, born in 20's
  3. Located the size tag (in the right pocket, top corner)
  4. Left side...inside snap pocket/pen slot on outside

Looks like a 1960’s US Navy G-1. Mouton collar as opposed to later Dynel (faux sheepskin). Zip is a replacement, and don’t think the knits are original either. Anything stamped on the wind flap (USN) or any sign of anything stencilled on the back of the collar? Still a nice jacket.

Thanks so much! Let me thoroughly inspect again, I just found the sizing recently...so there is a chance I might find other tags as well.

By looking the pics and cut, looks like a Ralph Edwards or an Irvin B. Foster from mid 60's. You will only find two tags, one on the lining (gone) and the other inside the right pocket (pictured).

Thank you for this insight, super clutch call. I'm leaning towards it being an Irvin B. Foster after comparing the two jackets pics.
