I remember seeing posts before on the old forum about the wear on their russet horsehide turning almost black . . .

Isn't it supposed to lighten instead? Great looking jacket and wonderful seller though.

It looks like the wear that was developing on a US Authentic russet horsehide A-2 that I used to have.

Certainly LW use a brown top over a very dark/black base coat. Not too keen on the look when it wears though.

Yes, both my Lost Worlds B-2 and my US Authentic A-2 exhibit the very same wear. Although it looks black, I confirmed under sunlight that it is really a very dark seal brown. Once that bottom coat starts to fade, it starts to look lighter as one would expect. It takes a while to get to that point though - at least for my jackets anyway.

I have a newer LW A2 and it does not have a dark base. I believe it probably has to do with hides used at a particular time.
