Any idea when this design originated, looks maybe 1950's?

In "Army Air Force and United States Air Force Decorations, Medals, and Insignia" (1997) by Lt. Col Anthony Aldebol USAF (Ret.):

MISSILEMAN/MISSILE BADGE
"According to AFR 35-5, dated May 23, 1958 Guided Missile Insignia was awarded to officers and airmen who possessed a guided missle AFSC or performed a direct, distinctive role in the command, maintenance, or operation of the missile or its aerospace ground equipment (AGE).
...
That same regulation in 1963 changed the name of the "Guided Missile Insignia" to the "Missileman Badge" and also established a basic, senior, and master badge. The senior missileman badge required 3 years of satisfactory performance in the missile duty position and the master missileman required 7 years in the missile duty position."

So although the basic design was classic Cold War from the 1950's, the Master designation didn't exist until 1963.
