How do you tell when Jacket was made?

CONTRACT NO. 1978-01
UNICEPT
REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.
U.S.ARMY AIR FORCES

Is there a way from the above info to know when this was made.
Is it a reproduction or original?
What is value? Jacket is in excellent condition

Welcome to VLJ Jim. You A-2 is a repro and the 1978 date would indicate when they were first made. For example Avirex uses 1978 on some of their earlier labels. So it is not a correct WW2 contract number.

Avirex label looks like this. From this you can not know when this jacket is made.
