GENUINE CAGLECO SPORTSWEAR TYPE G-1 INTERMEDIATE FLIGHT JACKET MIL-J-7823 (AER) N383S-9211A

It is always exciting when you find an unissued G-1, especially from its highly sought-after first 7823 series.

This contract, N383S-9211A, was the first awarded to Cagleco Sportswear in fiscal year 1954. This company had 6 contracts for the G-1 from 1954 to 1957 before they changed their name to the renowned Ralph Edwards Sportswear.

Finding a jacket in this condition after 70 years is unbelievable. I own 3 examples of this contract and they are in excellent condition, but this one is near impossible to upgrade.

The goatskin leather is mint. All parts are genuine to the jacket. The collar is immaculate, and note the use of black mouton instead of the more common brown one; it is a characteristic only seen in this contract. Knits are flawless, which is rare even for unissued examples. The blackened Conmar zipper is intact. The silver "USN" stencil under the collar is gleaming.

Just wondering from over the pond UK, where would any NOS examples of any contract really first ever turn up for sale in the US and how do they come to light over the years?

Examples like this for one would never make it over here and owning a jacket from the film that started if for me Toko Ri would be the grail.

In the USA it is not a rare thing to find jacket like this one on various places. This one was at a well known portal where from time to time a real gems can be discovered.
