Go with a large ,I am a 46 and have the same jacket in XL its a true 48, its doable for me . I think you would be disappointed with the fit ,I second all who commented on the jacket merits and I agree its a winner .

PS thanks for the picture Atticus did not notice at first there was a dog in the picture .

I find it strange that the tanker jacket and the B10 made for ATF have such different sleeve lengths for the same size ,so that would be an added cost to factor in should I purchase one .

My comments about the size of ATF's B-10 were confined to the ATF jacket, only. I've only owned one other B-10...a second-hand ELC...and I only owned it briefly. I had to return it because of a broken zipper.

In fact, I really don't know much about any of the WWII jackets, reproduction or original. So please don't use my comments about my particular jacket's size as any kind of general guide about B-10 sizing.

And to make my comments about B-10 sizing even less relevant, the ATF B-10 is no longer available. I think I bought the very last one. I don't want to speak for the owner, but I was told he has no specific plans to offer that jacket in the future. Certainly not until next year. Although, occasionally, ATF B-10s do appear on eBay.

Thanks! Yeah, the tie is an occupational hazard, I'm afraid. I was a career prosecutor until I retired in December, 2015. Now I'm a private attorney. Most of my vintage jacket wearing has always been done over a dress shirt and a tie.

It's a shame that ATF have stopped making these, mind you can't blame them if they weren't moving off the shelves. But that in itself seems strange to me, here you have a really lovely "close enough" repro and pattern, quality materials, very well made and for a damn good price. Maybe B-10s just aren't as popular as some other types? Strange because for me after getting a B-10 it's quickly become one of my favourite flight jackets, they're comfortable, warm, practical and great looking.

I'm really happy to have scored one of the ATF ones - although I actually have two: a size Large which is the one I wear and a Medium which I picked up at the same time to check sizing. The Medium I'm going to pass onto to a mate when he visits but if it's not right for him I'll plonk it in the classifieds here.

I think I might have been bitten by the ATF bug as there's a few more of their things I'm planning on picking up.

I understand they will introduce a couple of USN deck jackets, soon. I hope one is a reasonably priced N-1.

Note that the pocket flaps are more akin to A2 style whereas originals are more straight a la ELCs Roughwear (are they really Buzz's or made by ELC does anyone know?) - obviously costwise a totally different proposition but think I prefer the deeper flap.

That's a great jacket! (Like the 1911, too). Sorry to hear they aren't making any more (at least for now). I have an ATF Tanker I got almost 10 years ago; it still looks great.

I had my local seamstress shorten the sleeves on my new ATF tanker jacket. Fits much better, now. I can see that this will be a much-worn jacket come next fall. Yes, Jackie's flip flops are still on the porch, there behind me.

Thanks! I've actually lost some weight here lately. After Christmas, I'd grown out of almost everything I owned, including my work clothing. So I went on a low carb diet and now I've shed 25 or so lbs. Made all of my jackets fit more comfortably.

I've always like varsity jackets, MA-1s and L-2Bs. I don't know why I didn't look into a tanker before now. It really is a comfortable, non-martial jacket.

I think that's Rollin's (ATF's head honcho) other half wearing the prototype. In the post he said he was getting pricing for wool and synthetic linings to see where the cost would be.
