Fine looking grouping on Ebay (Item 200348481789)
Named grouping (Donald Carey). The listing states: a bombadier in the 369th Bomb Squadron of the Eighth Air Force, flying B 17's. He flew a total of 33 missions, and brought back a piece of flack that hit his plane. He was awarded several medals, and the period engraved examples are with this group. This jacket is featured in "The Art of the Flight Jacket", by McGuire and Conway, on pages 27 & 28. This is a very complete grouping. Mr Carey saved a great deal of his training paperwork, and it details his service from enlisted man to departure for Europe. There are copies of his mission record, hitting some of the most dangerous targets in 1944 Europe. There are period photos of Mr Carey ,his B17, and crew. Plus one of the nicest features, a post war reunion trip to the old airbase in England. This is complete with a color shot of him wearing his A 2. Thejacket itself is an Aero, sz 44,and is completely stock. Original kits, zipper..patch and nametag. It does show wear from it's birth some70 years ago,but over all, a very fine example. Very large grouping, and will take aout $40 to ship in the CONUS. Insurance is strongly suggested.
