Yes, thanks Geeboo, when I show my wife this picture she will instantly take back her comment about me having two pair of Aldens as being extreme. Thank you. Now in vintage fedoras, she is right. I have too many.

Hey nkang,
my boots are technically known as: M1948 Boots, Service, Combat, Russet. WWII paratrooper boots had 12 vs 11 eyelets and a beveled heel to keep parachute straps from getting caught on the heels. Here's a pic of a pair of WWII issue jump boots (not mine). A lot of vintage dealers sell the M1948 as original WWII jump boots. They either don't know the difference or mark them up thinking most buyers won't know the difference. I used to own a pair of WWII jump boots but cashed in after the Band of Brothers craze. They became too valuable to wear!

wow, those are purrrrr-Tee!

BTW, I went to a small college in North East GA and did plenty of rock climbing and rappelling off Currahee MT made known from Band of Brothers.

Been to Currahee and the small town railroad station where at the troopers from the 101 st arrived at the beginning of training. It’s now been turned into a museum. Some pretty cool stuff.

So I decided to try to antique some boots from ATF, using the receipe from this site: http://thelandlessgentry.blogspot.com/2018/02/diy-antiquing-corcoran-brown-jump-boots.html

Ordered the boots while in Florida and bought all the ingredients. Missed that I bought black parade gloss and tried to find neutral, but only found it in the UK. Therefore had to wait until vacation was over to finish the boots. Very happy with the result, there are so many shades of brown, depending on the light and I think it's neat that the boots look like they've been through some stuff even though I still haven't worn them outside. Not sure which laces I like the most, leather or the NOS that came with the boots. It really was a fun project, easy to do. Here's a bunch of photos of the boots throughout the process. I think they will have to come in at least a couple of posts.

You can see the cordovan polish coming through in the last couple of pics. Really nice.

How are the ATF boots? I've been tempted myself as the stuff I have from them is great. But shoes/boots over the internet is always a worrying one for me.

They are great! In addition to these, I also have their jump boots. They do run large, so I would order at least one size smaller than normal. Fantastic quality!!

Thanks for that. You did the right thing getting them when you were in Florida, with my last two orders from ATF the shipping to Norway was enormous!

Many thanks as well for the sizing tip, it's info like that which is invaluable!

Guys,

if you think that Desert Boots are a good match to your denim and flight jacket outfit BUT find the original Clark's made boots to wide....then I could definitely recommend these beauties from Astorflex.
astor.jpg

They come in mid and hi versions, are very well-made, with fully leather-lined interior.
The boots are made in Italy instead of Vietnam. The fit is narrower than the classic Clarks' Desert Boot, which makes them a perfect fit for me.

Best regards,

Ties
