Another patch ID request

Hello,

I'm sure I know this insignia but must admit I can't find it in my books.
The man on the picture is Lt Roy L Atherton. I have found him in the 301st BG roster but the insignia doesn't match with the 301st BG squadrons'...
Back of the picture is marked "Roy 1943".
He may have been reassigned to another unit or may have signed for a second tour of operations ?

That's why I couldn't find this patch in my 15th AF documentation.
The picture must have been taken before going overseas.

hey Tim , always glad to help when I can, yeah this was a stateside unit , probably training/replacement and he was in it before being assigned to the other group .
