An old question - A2 cooler than G1?

I was told that this forum could explain why A2s seem to be more in demand that G1s. Is it because:

- A2s were more common, more visible around air bases in WW2 (not out at sea)?
- A2s were featured in more Hollywood films?
- A2 horsehide has tended to last longer than G1 goat?
- The longer production life of G1s (to the stage where quality suffered)
- That fur collar?
- Tom Cruise?

It's all puzzling to me as it seems the G1 is the better design.

What do you think?

Of the possibilities you mention, I think the ones above hit the target.

I've always been of the opinion that the A-2 is a true jacket, whereas the G-1 borders at the edge of being a coat. Also, for whatever reason, A-2s just tend to go better with civilian casual clothing. I think much of that has to do with the A-2's cleaner lines and leather collar.

Indiana Jones look closer to A2. I wonder who here has started out with Indy jackets then upgraded to vintage A2s?
