Fantastic . . . as long as the Schlitz and Blatz signs are merely decorative and not what is actually on tap at the Man Cave.
Wonderful job on the door.

Sometimes I am just amazed at the collective knowledge, wisdom, photos and "stuff" available on this forum. Just amazing. Where else? :D

Gents, thanks for the thoughtful and helpful replies.
Dave--we are on the same page. I want to do a AAF depot-style reline. I know the depots just covered the old collar snap buttons with the new lining. But the collar hook--that puzzles me. That's why I am hoping someone on VLJ might have or...
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how the wartime AAF refurb depots dealt with A-2 collar hooks on jackets with collar stands when they replaced the lining?
It doesn't seem like they would have taken the time to actually remove the hook and replace it with a new one. (Or did they?) If anyone has a...

Dye lines on the red waistband are consistent with a wartime depot redye. A depot visit would account for the Conmar zip as well--but not those cuffs.

Alternatives to Good Wear:
Vintage Productions here in the US sells MASH knits for A-2s, though they appear to be out of stock at the moment. The knits are dark brown and excellent quality.

This thread has turned rather bizzare. Below is a close up of my receipt from HPA.
Fact: in 1999 Eastman happened upon some very grainy leather that they called "mustang hide" which they had made into a dozen or so 1401s by scantily clad, underage Russian sex slaves that Gary still keeps locked...
I have one of these "mustang hide" A-2s. Bought it back from HPA in 1999. There were only about 20 or so made, as I recall. Originally the caramel hide was suposed to be for a run of Monarchs.
About the hide: first off: it's the thickest yet softest, and just plain nicest hide I've ever had on...
Not a period shot, but I have this photo in my collection. Ostensibly from the A-2 (Cable) of a 4th FG Flight Surgeon.

I was checking out Suuntos and Pathfinders for hiking/hunting/camping (mainly the altimeter and barometer functions, as I live in Colorado) and stumbled upon a little wrist-mounted GPS by Garmin called the Foretrex 401 for about the same price. Not a watch, per se, but gives atomic time! Great...
I followed this nice, early Rolen on ebay. I don't follow nylon closely, but $600 seems like a good price for the seller for an unmarked jacket.

I like the seller's interpretation of the manufacturer: SUPER CRYOGS CORP.
Maybe Super Cryogs used the kha kiknits.
