I pulled the trigger on one of these "too good to be true" deals a while ago...what I got did NOT look like the one in the pic. The leather was crazy...maybe spray painted? The brown paint would rub off and expose whitish (maybe) leather.
Hey Andrew - beautiful jacket. I'm also in the "46 jackets that fit like a 44" fan club. Question for you...you mentioned darkening the jacket. I've certainly read quite a bit about how people execute the "Depot Re-Dye" look, but what was your technique for more of a slight darkening? I have...
I'm looking forward to learning more about the re-dye process...sadly, the pics above are no longer loading. Does anyone else have experience re-dying at home? If so, I'd like to hear your process, see before & after pics and hear if you overall felt that it was worth it. I have a great...
I really like this example of a well-worn Eastman A2 that they show on the new site...looks like an original!

I would wager the jacket was made late 40s / early 50s by a company that once manufactured A2s. The combination of the WW2 materials really support the value & history of the patch, not the jacket. Good looking coat though...even though the price is about 10X inflated here!

Of all of the interesting sales on eBay, here's the most clearly non-A2 I've seen, but also with the most background I've seen. Interesting for sure...ever seen a jacket like this...
I think my answer on this changes every time I see someone post a review and/or pics of a new acquisition (especially with some of the newer hides I've seen lately). I'm admittedly partial to GW jackets as I've owned a few and have really enjoyed getting to know John Chapman & Vickie in my...
That jacket is just amazing...and I love how the old patch stitch marks tell a story of their own (multiple squadrons, lots of action). The square patch on the back and the shield shaped shoulder patch likely places this in the Pacific (to your point)...good luck on digging up some history!
Andrew...game, set, match. Perfect. Fit, condition, perfect. Thanks for sharing - you have the grail of great originals that fit well and to enjoy wearing.
This collection is mind-numbing. Thank you for posting the link to this and of course for taking the time to assemble that amazing collection and photograph it with the various pairings/combinations. One great item or jacket can really spark the imagination to wonder what adventures it may...
