I’ve seen another report where the cafe proprietor denies this, that the British guys turned up in a coach, and he apologised but said he didn’t have room. He strongly denies any anti-British sentiment.
I dunno y’know. According to the timeline on their website (not always to be entirely trusted, I grant you), they had a contract for N-2B’s in 1963-which is on the label. Appears to have coyote fur trim on the hood, not fake fur, so presumably genuine mouton as well. I know they started off as...
Two days of brilliant sunshine but a chilly wind in Cornwall. Sunset over Newquay Bay, with a Levi’s ‘Elephant skin’ jacket-but it’s not really about the jacket here. My Aero Highwayman was in the car.
I bought their AL-1 when it first came out, I was intrigued by it too, as it isn’t one you hear much about. Great jacket, but I found that it just didn’t suit me. The handwarmer pockets on the chest are a great idea, and I’m sure they were the very fellows in the Aleutians, but they tend to bulk...

Yeah beware the waist on Navy jackets. I’ve been caught out more than once-what would normally fit me comfortably, hasn’t worked because of the smaller waist.
Yeah looks like a 70’s Dynel collar, cowhide job. If it has the USN perforation then it’s a Navy jacket, but that’s a lot of money for one of those. If it was a 50’s/60’s goatskin one with a mouton collar, maybe, but although they’re decent, hard wearing jackets, that era of the G-1 is not...
Stick around, will ya? :D It’s great to have someone around who knows about this stuff. A lot of the ‘can you identify my jacket?’ queries are about non-military stuff (when they’re not about modern mall jackets), which most of us don’t have a Scooby about. BTW, I like the Apparel Annex jacket.
It’s a cool thing-I know squat about such things, but I tend to doubt it was actually intended for racing. I think you’re right about 70’s/80’s, by which time I imagine actual racing coveralls would have been fireproof. Promotional item?
