Thanks CBI, I do read good comments about SM in general.. and that's good to know. Anybody got any 'real world' pics of these shoes? They carry the russet AND a black USN version and the leather of the black shoes looks way better IMO on the site than the leather used for the russet. I'm hoping...

Sorry to bring up an ancient thread but I searched and there's no real discussion about these particular shoes from SM Wholesale. I am interested in trying them out and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with these Russet Officer Shoes, sizing observations etc...

As a general rule.. is it a good idea to size down 1 with the WPG Irvin?

Slight correction, only the jackets for the very last movie was made by Nowak, he didn't do the 2nd and 3rd movies - or is that the "latest jacket history" being pedaled :roll: ... I agree with the quality being about the same. I think Westeds are great if you can get one that's not too short...

That's a sharp eye! I too see what appears to be a line of stitching around the outer edge. Actually the guy with the goggles next to Woodring also has a light colored leather.. and .. the guy with the dark jacket next to the original light colored one that I pointed out - his collar looks to...

In this pic, the guy next to Lt. Woodring with the goggles might have his collar up but everyone else's seems to be laying flat. But look at the contrast in the color of the leather compared to the guy third from the right. His jacket is really a light shade. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Yea I noticed those pocket flaps too, I like them myself and even prefer them but in truth you do see the simpler ones like in JC's newer jacket more in vintage pictures. As for the snaps vs. buttons issue (mentioned earlier), I can say that after owning several A1 jackets of both designs.. the...

My personal opinion on the matter is that the more modern pics we see (of A1s) tend to have collars that stand up on their own because the knits are still fresh and new (and possibly thicker) and therefor have more body to them. That and people like that these jackets look good with a popped...

What vintage jacket had knits that could be described "toast" colored? I'm working on a civilian jacket and am considering this option. The color looks to me like it's somewhere between tan and a light mid-brown. Maybe there was a military jacket that used this shade, whether leather or cloth ?

thanks for the picture, I like it, you should keep it if you're still undecided. BTW, I see nothing from that shot that makes me think 'suede' though. Maybe you've not owned a lambskin jacket before, but yours looks very typical of that leather to me. I think this is a bit underrated actually...

can you get a good flashed picture of deep into the bottom of the pockets of that jacket? I'd like to see.
