Nice jackets you have on the website...I particularly like the Heron 1929 Zipper...really tempting :)
Are these jackets custom-made, or something available off the shelf? If so, how long does it take to make one? What material do you use on the Heron jackets? Do you offer different lining...
Ian, it looks nice!
I have one myself but have never given it the HWT.
It did however get soaked in the rain once. The hide on the 352nd Monarch A-2 (pre new warhorse) is very supple to start with. I don't think it needs HWT...Just more frequent wear would be sufficient I'd imagine.
I have one from 1952 and it also has a very trim fit around the waist & general torso area. My understanding is that they're designed that way unlike the A-2s which are more forgiving (depending on the contracts, etc.)
I spoke with Alan a couple of weeks ago. I think their email & online order system was down. He suggested to call if you want to place order, etc.
I also asked Alan about the "missing items" on their website (Star A-2, etc.) and he simply said he didn't know because Gary was the one working on...
Congrats on the cool jacket! I also have a GW (size 40) on order. I haven't really decided but so far I have told John it would be a Perry, though I'm also considering others such as the 18775-P, I. Chapman & Sons, RW18091, or the no name 27753 as an alternative.
How about some pictures of the...
I have to agree with Victor re ELC's Monarch. I have the pre warhorse hide and it is an excellent A-2 with excellent HH(however, not sure if I would want to spend another £600+ on the new ELC Monarch). On mine the hide is thin (much like the ELC Werber), particularly on the collar. It started...
The jacket looks fantastic! I've got a GW's Bronco (in goatskin) and it's definitely a keeper. JC's definitely talented!
For me the perfect A-2 is (probably) the ELC Monarch A-2 w/ internal pockets. I thought about giving it the hot water treatment but I'm a bit afraid it may not come out right...
I asked them once re the measurements of size 40, and surprisingly it was pretty trim! Armpit-to-armpit for a size 40 was given as 21", which I thought should be at least 22", like most of the A-2s. ELC Cable sizing is quite generous, in my opinion. So, perhaps you ought to ask Eastman about the...
Just arrived yesterday :D, after a long wait (since June).
It's made of heavy waxed cotton (800g/sq-m) but unlike the FQHH version it doesn't weigh a ton (under 1.8 kg)
I always like the Barnstormer but the sheer weight kind of put me off...
As you can see from the pics, there are various...
Hi all,
Would appreciate it if somebody in the know could tell me the production year of this LW Foster G-1 jacket based on the label?
I was led to believe it was from ca.1946 but someone told me it's actually from ca. 1952?

Ouch! The price is a killer...
Good thing I bought mine (with internal pockets) before the price increase.
Yes, I don't think mine has the grainy warhorse hide to start with. The hide on mine was really smooth (initially) & soft and the hide is rather thin (like their Werber).
It has now...
the Star A2 is not the only one disappearing... The Monarch also disappears from the website. Looks like they're in the process of upgrading several of their A2s with their new warhorse hide...
As the price, I think it can only go up :(
