X-2 - The A-2 Pre Contract Test Jacket by Headwind Mfg Co

From the Headwind jacket description; "A.G Spalding & Bros. was contracted to build a small run of prototype jackets to beta test the pattern and details. " It is not a known or proven fact that Spalding produced this jacket. In years to come this will lead to misinformation and knowledge of...

    Full grain or top grain

I guess I must have gotten different search results to you. Full grain leather is not split.

    Full grain or top grain

I would say that this article is wrong. As I understand it Full Grain is the full width of the skin, that is to say the skin is not split, which makes it tougher than the other types. In the Eastman manual, page 38, there is a cattle hide specification which lists the three types of leather...

Spiewak (?) A2 with a different type of Conmar zipper

Nothing unusual in this photo expect for the zipper; Zoom in on the zipper and an indentation can be seen at the top, which is typical of Conmar zippers. Expect that this type of Conmar is not listed in the Eastman manual nor can I recall seeing any other images of this style of zipper...
