B10 from BOB DONG

Gents,

living in China for quiet some time I know the mandarin meaning for „Dong“ is „Light“ (like turn the lights on) but I also remember about 30 years ago photos floating around of a guy with extremely well „developed“ reproductive organ which name was „Long Dong Silver“

Actually chinese seem not to do any research before they decide for any names.

But that‘s vice versa when my company started to introduce the Mercedes C-Class on the chinese market (internal type description was 205) the marketing department didn‘t get that the chinese word for 205 means „extremely stupid“ ...

A big thank you to Steve and Thomas. Your laundering advice was very helpful. I washed the jacket 'a mano' in the bathtub with water at about 70℉, rinsed it three times, and let it drip dry hanging over the tub for about twenty four hours. Each hour for the first eight hours or so I did a little tug and pull on it to combat the shrink poltergeist, which seemed to have been successful. Jacket is now much more user friendly, and also looks a ton better. Again, thanks.
Everybody knows that the word 'Dong' means a deep reverberating sound indicating that the Witch is dead. Actually, Dong is the standard monetary unit of Vietnam.

Thomas, thanks again you for your detailed photos and for sharing your wash experience. This is very valuable. Now I can definitely wash my jacket and I will not be afraid for the mouton.

Thanks for posting Thomas... I like the look of that Dong. I'd really like to look into getting.
I fear whatever size, may end up being short for me though.

I'm really tempted too. But I'm not sure about the sizing. I'm 40 in chest, 42 in lengths, so it's either the L or the XL.

Same thoughts. But they are said to run trim, and as a winter jacket you might want a sweater underneath. What color though? I'd go for the greener one with olive knits, don't like the red one. They might need replacing though.

You and I are on the same frequency. Thinking the XL, green/ olive knit... rather have the lengths better.
Can then layer, or take in if necessary. At this price, its easy to replace or tweak bits later.
So, how do we go about getting one!

I've been on the look out for a size 44 BD B-10 for awhile.. AFAIK, there is no stock to be found on just about any size out there. On the link above, no sizes can be placed into a cart. The BD sellers on AliExpress told me not to expect any until fall. If someone has a link to a 44 actually in-stock, it would be appreciated. :)

This guy is 172 and 73kg, and he wears a 40 (L). So I guess it's a 42 for me, as I'm 11 cm taller. Cloth jackets don't look as stupid as leather ones when they are a bit large.

I am looking forward to the results Dmitry. I have a great idea for a B-10, but don't want to toy with the ELC.

I'm just holding off for the moment, and not only for lack of budget. AVI has been hinting some winter stuff, maybe it's worth waiting to see what they will come up with? Who knows, a B-10 perhaps with more straightforward and risk-free sizing?

I'm happy as a pig-in-shit with my Buzz ST.. Many may question the authenticity of the rust knits, but fail to see that it's only one of a few actual B-10 contract repros available, and only a knit-change away from being just about 'dead-on' to that ST contract, if indeed the rust knits are proven without doubt to be fantasy (which they haven't to date). Regardless, the contrast of the rust looks killer IMO.

I must have dug-up and researched EVERY B-10 repro around the globe to date, and if I would have found a size 44 Bronson instead of the 42, I may have skipped the Buzz. Now that I've seen, handled, and worn the Buzz, the laundry-list of authentic materials, hardware, and detail to the ST contract makes me happy to have made the plunge. The tagged 44 fits my 44" chest nicely, along with the sleeves / back length.. The alpaca-blend lining is authentically double-faced, and warm, while not being uncomfortably itchy while wearing a tee-shirt. I was lucky to get one of the versions which sports a NOS Conmar, not the repro used in some others. The cotton weave used for the shell looks 'right', and not at all like the Bronson I had. Just a damn fine B-10 all around. When I found that none were being produced for the 2018 season, and no info regarding 2019 and beyond, I knew it may just be a 'now or never' kind of thing for a new one.

I just want the BD because from what I gather, it has a wool lining (I refuse to purchase one that does not have at least some genuine wool content), 100% cotton shell, and I like the scalloped pocket flaps. Just something to knock-around in, while allowing it to get dirty and not baby it..perhaps patch it if desired. When I go out-n-about, or to an event, or just feel like looking quite sharp, I'll be grabbing the Buzz though....
