Another fantasy jacket from Buzz Rickson this time NASA

I also got a red MA-1 earlier this year and it's a great jacket, too.
I would expect so. A couple of wearing pics would be cool! And maybe a pic from the tag?
You got one from the recent batch? Or one from way back?

I don't think anyone would dispute it being a great jacket by any means Monsoon, BR make great quality nylon jackets.

Some of us were just a bit fed up with Charles's claim that it's a copy of the actual jackets worn by Northrop F-89H test pilots.

That was exactly the point. BR's jackets are top notches, quality wise, but I'm tired of Charles claiming every one of their jacket is an exact reproduction of an historical jacket, when it's either proved it's not, or there is no proof to back the statement. Bullshit.

I agree that BR ought to go the way of Eastman. Show a picture of their jacket and a picture of the original it was based on. If they are pulling something out of their butts, that's all fine and good, just label it as such.

And who knows? BR might have exact copies of the ones they're basing it on and not sharing. Anyone think about contacting the home office??

And about Charles and HPA, I seriously doubt the guy is going to dump on jackets he's going to be selling. Don't want to buy from him, that's cool. Thing is, it's starting to look like a witch hunt here and on TFL.

If you could, I'd still like to see a pic of the red MA-1 being worn...thanks.

With all due respect Monsoon, that's plain wrong. If anybody started all this utter nonsense it was a certain BR rep. What happened was people finally getting sick and tired of some untruths being peddled around as absolute truths and also some of the bullying behaviour used to try and defend it.

Charles had been insinuating various BR jackets were exact copies when they either weren't or there was no evidence forthcoming supporting them being. Rather than addressing any concerns that were raised or questions asked, he insulted and denigrated those who questioned any of this made up nonsense or marketing, even to the point of implying that a member here may have possibly had racist motives for not believing his claims for BR's supposed accuracy on certain jackets. That's just plain wrong.

If you choose to stretch the truth and inappropriately attack those who draw attention to it, that's not their fault, it's actually yours.

Well, the whole, "He called me a racist" MIGHT be that he interpreted a persons response about BR to be more in line with not liking them simply because they are made in Japan. I don't know, just my opinion and everyone always knows about those.

And it does seem like people pounce as soon as HPA advertises a jacket. Questioning the background of something is fine (I'm curious myself about the red MA-1 and the NASA jacket); it's lately looking like people just stirring up shit.

To be honest I dont give a flying one about Charles or HPA, I've just ignored him pretty much since I've been reading stuff from The Fed'. Maybe because I don't have to buy from him.

I have brought Buzz via Eastman and that was nice and easy.

What annoys me is the fact Buzz could of easily made both jackets more accurate very easily. These seem like really lazy reproductions. I've seen images of NASA pilots wearing USAF issue L-2B, these were clearly Olive and all seemed to have the USAF emblem on the shoulder. Neil Armstrong for instance, a Navy pilot. I've seen many of the various versions of this sky blue jacket. I am yet to see a single one with epaulets. Surely it wouldn't of been er... rocket sciene to remove them this time around?

Having never jumped in over at the FL, I only get the basic outline that there are those who question BR's jacket authenticity(not a bad thing), fanboys defending, and those who defend it by attacking other popular makers for their jackets. The whole JC/DD 3" longer L2-a being criticized when you are selling fantasy jackets and defending ELC A-2 Longs is fairly arrogant and hypocritical.
https://www.vintageleatherjackets.org/threads/rust-knits-b10s-argument-over.20489/
The period color photos posted pretty much disproved them(or fail to prove them from a production standpoint). Tint and saturation corrections showed the knits to be standard and I say the F-86H pilot photo is the same - slide film with oversaturated colors of a standard orange.
I don't see a witch hunt, just not playing the hand you dealt yourself. Claiming a great jacket is fine. Claiming a golden egg with no proof will naturally encourage questions. How you deal with those tells a lot about you.
Nice jackets - fantasy or not.

Daisy gate looking back was kinda funny after all...
As Dave said above, things deteriorated because of one guy with a loose lug. I think Charles just felt a bit of a supporter there and went a tad over on the defense of it. I think he gets what the Company gives him, and takes it for gospel to an extent and after all, he's selling stuff.

If it were not for the other guy and the nods towards folks who look for/buy American being something of racist throwbacks, well, just read his posts and you get the picture.
Hypocrisy isn't a bad thing in his eyes I think.

If you make "accurate replicas" at least expect some guys to ask for proof. I'd say they should take the motion pictures' way of doing this and say that they resemble real life things, but are not those things. Case closed.

For every guy looking only for 99.99% accuracy, there's probably 100 that 90% would do. Or less.

for those who want 10000% accuracy, stick with originals. If you can't find an original (anything) just live without.

BTW, I took the brunt for that entire 3 inches longer BS on FL. Interesting that my size 46 DD with the "extra length" was only a half inch longer that my "authentic" BR size 46 L-2A. As I recall the length difference between the L-2 and L2A - originals- is about an inch.

Well, I was on the other end of the 3" gate as well. At least in the usual passive-aggressive sense that he works.
I opted out. There is no winning there. And for the ragging on DD/GW, the "XXL" BR is being worn by the guy who sports a 48 jacket. Go figger. Their sizing tables xlate that to a "44" US. Very accurate...

Slight derailment: here are my B-15C mod and red MA-1. The B-15 is a size 44 and the MA-1 is XXL. To me, it feels a bit more roomy than the B-15, like it’s a size 45 or something.

It does look a bit more roomy than the B-15C. I see it in the shoulders especially. Both look really nice, however.
