L-2A "Jinruishi" First Look

I took a risk and ordered this jacket for $110 shipped, about two weeks ago from eBay seller xinwater.
Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/USAF-Army-...ket-Military-L2-Fall-Nylon-Coat-/332500137482

The photos online make the jacket look almost blue-gray, but in person the color is a nice Air Force blue contrasting with a lighter blue lining. Cut seems about right for an L-2A, definitely not made to fit like a suit jacket!

IMG-2643.JPG

Cuffs are seamless, which is a nice touch, and a shade or two darker blue than the rest of the jacket. Snaps are painted a shiny black.

IMG-2644.JPG

Zipper is left-hand pull, marked "CONMAR" with what feels like a fake leather pull tab.

IMG-2645.JPG

The tag hardly reads like a real L-2A tag (missing "Light Zone", sized S-XL instead of numbered sizes, nonexistent spec number, DSA code, etc) but at least it's the correct typeface and colors. Looks fine from a distance. Decal is also off, should read "U.S. AIR FORCE"

The shoulder decal looks pretty good, but oddly seems to be a shade yellower than white. The epaulettes are also a bit shorter than original, based on pictures.

Overall, the quality is very good and it's a well-made jacket for the price. Very happy with it's light construction so I can wear it on these bitter cold California days;)

Spot on report. I picked up one last month from the same dude Xinwater and was happy with the results however I would have liked to see a little insulation rather than just a nylon shell

Not too bad, especially for the price but those epaulettes are just crazy short. It's funny because on the ebay link you posted they look the proper length - maybe the larger the size the longer the epaulettes?

Still for the price a good beater and probably better than anything else for the same price.

You may be correct about the size of the epaulettes conforming to the size of the jacket. Here's mine for comparison. It's a size XXL. The epaulettes seem a little bit longer relative to the size of the shoulders which I guess from a tailoring standpoint makes sense.

Thanks for the responses guys!
Some fit pics here (and my humble attempt at modeling). As you can see, the torso feels baggy, especially when zipped up. Arms aren't too short or too long, nor does the jacket itself. I would have appreciated some fill too, it feels like just two layers of nylon. After a few days it wears like a comfortable windbreaker.

Cheap repops like this are great for patching up and wearing out. I'm thinking about sewing a repro patch on it from a Korean War era unit. Also thinking about picking up a B-15C or D from the same ebay seller. Always time for more Korean War research and nylon!

The jacket looks great. It's fairly light weight with no insulation. Shame because with a few changes that could be a full time wearer.

Look better than Alpha's latest L-2 offer, which was a mix between an L-2B and a L-2C, laking lots of correct details, for almost two times the price! I'd say this one is a score!

Looks good, particularly as it’s a decent length-nearly every L-2 variant I’ve owned, repro or original, has been ridiculously short.

I've been very interested in one of these jackets, particularly in an XXL. Are you able to provide some measurements? Ideally pit to pit, back length from collar to hem, sleeve length etc. Never sure whether to trust the sizing charts! Thanks.

Gladly
Shoulder seam to Shoulder Seam 20.5 inches
Shoulder seam down arm to end of knit cuff 28 inches
Arm pit seam to arm pit seam 27 inches
Rear collar seam down back to bottom of knits 26 inches
Knit waist across 16 inches
Weirdest measurements for an XXL
Hope that helps

Whoah, that seems mighty large in the torso!

Your right .... it's larger in the upper body and then narrows drasticalloy at the waist.
But as you can see in Evans photos it seems to work when you put it on.

I wear the L-2a L2-b everyday in the Cab perfect. I have the B-15c too. Personally I am looking for the best quality style reproduction without breaking the bank. 3 nylons now from Jinrushi and really happy. I have discussed the slightly low pockets on the jackets (not noticeable to the joe public, just Jacket anoraks...) and supposedly the new stock of L2-a, L-2b, Ma-1, B-15c (mod) will have this addresed. I like the shorter epaulets...Recommendation by @B-Man2 was absoulutley spot on.

I will put my navy blue B-15 C from BR and B-10 Stag ( black tag) from The Real Mc Coy’s on the market in Autumn, when potential buyers are in a more “winter clothing mood”.
Both are large ( pit to pit 60-62 inside) and barely worn...
