Rust knits B10's - argument over?

Sorry Dave, if you’re referring to me in your first few lines. I’m not trying to yell or claim anything to do with originality, Buzz or DD.
Chris,
Not at all. I refer to the aggression and disrespect on the other forum. With a few exceptions we don't see that type of chest beating here. Honestly, I haven't been there since the criticism of DD's jacket first started. I saw it for what it was and most importantly for what he openly said it was and rather liked it. Came close to ordering one (in original length) during the sale but feared I would just tear it up(on airplanes no less). Not being a fanboy of any one maker(not publicly anyway) I just couldn't see where the detractors were coming from. Unfortunately, it sounds like it's deteriorated since.

It's truly only one sorry soul on TFL that is trolling and looking for a fight. He's got some psycho thing for DD and GW in particular, with me coming in third - must be my love of my GW jacket(s) over time and wanting a DD nylon jacket (with added 3").
He's been trying to bait me endlessly, but I'm not going to bite. Cocker has been in there and I'd rather just ignore at this point as it's a really odd thing going on...

Seems my last post was enough to shut both loonies down. And I didn't had a chance to talk about that awful red MA-1... :-D

I saw in that thread with you Cocker that Charles said something along the lines that if he should find out that a BR product is historically inaccurate or falling short then he'll call it out. I imagine he reads VLJ occasionally and may even be reading this thread and if so, I'm interested to see if he'll call out the red MA-1 and how Rutger's B&W photo from Jetpilotoverseas and the colour photo that they use in their marketing of this jacket when magnified, doesn't actually seem to show a red MA-1 at all but a different jacket. And especially seeing as their sales pitch says the following:

"Northrop’s red MA-1 jackets were made to the basic USAF specs. of the era and by a USAF contractor in a limited commercial production, the result being a Blazing-Red MA-1 Jacket that made their elite test pilots stand out, as seen in our vintage photo of the crew of an F-89H “Scorpion.”

I'd be very surprised if he does... Looks to me like whatever BR is selling is something holly to him, that can not be proved wrong or even discussed. That's really too bad, he seems to have some real knowledges, but his attitude kills it all for me.

You're probably right Cocker. For all the talk of keeping it real and highlighting any inaccuracies he'll probably do what most sales people do and try not to draw attention to it. But the question arises that if BR have stretched the truth with this red MA-1 it really doesn't look particularly good for their spiels about whole batches of red knitted B-10s and L-2As rolling of the production line with green knits, as we already suspected.

I was really impressed with you in that thread over at the hat place, it was hugely bloody rude of Charles to suggest that you were a racist just because you didn't believe the BR marketing. That was really bad form and horrific manners, and he should have apologised to you for that. It was completely out of line and highly offensive but you handled it like a champ. Nice one mate.

Yeah, I was so close a couple times there. Charles does seem like a good guy mostly, and I think he's passing on what he's given mostly, but also has a lot of knowledge.
The other rube is just out to lunch. I thought about a report on the "racist" post, but I opted to let 'er sit and tell it's own story.

Scott, I don't hang around TFL anymore apart from having had a look when there's a bit of a ding-dong like in that DD thread a couple of months back and this one (the BR one) but that bloke you mention is completely hatstand, he's sillier than a 2 bob watch.

As I said to Smithy, I'm still amazed that I didn't go ballistic on this guy. And his meltdown is really too bad, because most of his posts are pretty interesting and full of knowledge. I totally fail to comprehend how you can lose your shit that much in public because someone is not convinced by the sales pitch behind one of the product you sell. Not the quality of said item, not the craftmanship, just the friggin' pitch ! To me, this reflects badly on the companies you're representing.

I think someone else than him would have been banned.

Other sponsors have been banned, so if it were ongoing, I think it would be the case.
We all remember the BK and associated dude(s). But, they may have let the sponsorship expire prior. Not privy to that info...

Yeah, he seems to be a class act. If you happen to question the BR marketing spiel then you're apparently racist as he so charmingly tried to pin on Cocker - and TBH that was one of the nastier things I have ever seen on TFL. I've seen people insult people there but to insinuate that someone was a racist because they don't believe BR's marketing was dropping the bar real low.

But I'm still interested to see if he's got the cajones to call BR out when they're not accurate as he said he would, "If that should change down the road and I am made aware of it, I will readily acknowledge it". He's got his chance now to prove that with the red MA-1 so let's see.

Sorry if I'm coming across a bit tough on this but I've never liked bullies either in real life or online.

This is getting almost as good as the Great VAT Debacle of 2012. :) Maybe I should resurrect that topic.... o_O

No way chum, we can't have too much excitement all in one night, well that's what I usually say to the better half anyway except on weekends

Missed that one... or too many brain cells ago.
Ah, 23 pages of pure VLJ goodness back in the otherwise sleepy summer of 2012. The forum at its contentious best! I can provide a link as requested but don't want to engage in thread necromancy on that scale. Might be worth revisiting at the hat place, tho, seeing as how they closed the thread just when it was getting going.

I've been called a racist as well - in a more passive-agressive fashion because I stated that I prefer to buy American. not by HPA rep, but the other nutter.
Indeed, it's the new world bully with a keyboard shouting SJW terms wherever someone doesn't fall inline. It's pretty sad and dangerous.

And yes, the VAT debacle was one of the best ever!
