@johnwayne Wayne I find the same thing happens to me as well these days- and it's becoming more common. The little kids haven't seen much like them and are fascinated because she's almost toy scaled and the old guys reminice about when they bought them new in the late 60's.

If I wanted to sell her I should have done it before the money and personal investment, now I'm all attached again, especially after removing and reinstalling that windscreen. That's a job I'll never be doing ever again!

@Smithy Tim your Merc is beautiful and would fit in here perfectly with board racks on the roof. So what happened, I take it you sold her? Must have killed you to do that.

I do sometimes scan the classifieds for Willys Jeeps though. I've always wanted one and they are out pricing MG's at the moment but at this point I could do an equal value trade, but it's really less practical than a 48 year old car.

Oh and the seats are just black with white piping (they were originally just black). That's just the effect of the glare. I ended up replacing almost everything internal except for the door and interior cards. You can buy bit of brightwork needed now. I did however cut my own replacement Masonite boards and had the original vinyl re-applied.

It really did hurt to sell the old girl Andrew. Those W108 series late 60s Mercs are simply beautiful to drive. Funny you should mention the roof rack, it was a factory option but is unbelievably rare, I had two guys come up to me on the street wanting to buy her just for the roof rack!

A Willys would be great fun but keep the MG you've put all that work into her and they're an icon and a hoot to drive!

What year is the Roadster Andrew it has the steel bumpers so I know its pre 76 . Living in England these were every where ,the police even had a V8 version now you do not see them any more around ,I think it is a very pretty car . A friend of mine had a TR3 in California it was a 1960 in canary yellow with tan leather interior that also was a pretty car . Sitting in the car you could put your cigarette out on the street when you were stopped at the lights . Don't get rid of the car I had a 911 targa SC come home from a bad day at work jump in the car go for a drive everything was right with the world again after 10 mins . If its paid for and you have a place to store it keep it after all its not hurting you .

Andrew will no doubt shoot me down in flames but Beatrice looks like a 1969 build with overdrive Jeff.

My Dad had a bit of a thing for MGs and it's rubbed off a little bit on me. Dad had a TF1500 when he met my Mum and just prior my Mum had been going out with another bloke who had a TF1500, although they broke up when he'd invited her to be navigator on a rally and Mum stuffed up a few calls. Result was old boyfriend tried to tear a strip off Mum, she told him to bugger off in no uncertain terms, Mum met Dad (a slightly less wound up MG owner) and here I am!

Thanks Couchy, for a moment I thought you really wanted it @ausreenactor
I would have happily made it a home here...

I still have a Diamond/GW sitting in the box unopened from August 2015!!

I have a BR Deck Zip draped over my chair in my room on base, an RM N-1 in the wardrobe if things get really bad between my room and the Mess. At home there is an ELC Air Comfort, BR B-2 and CAB and ELC B-3s sitting there ready to go. I can unwrap Murder Inc or the Bill Kelso Werber.... And then there are the bundled up B-10s, Tankers, M41, D-2, D-1 and more...

Shelby's birthday is today and Madelaine's is next Wednesday. iPod and Lego Friends were the priority this week. A month ago it would have been mine..

In line with 'Black Hartmann', I bought this a month back.. My big V8 is nudging 300,000kms after years of valiant service..

You're right Tim, '68 CKD parts assembled here in '69- i.e. So it's a slight mix of 68-69 details. The best period IMO Jeff. I'm sure they used whatever was available on the shelves at that transitional time. Working out what should be replaced is a bit like aviation archaeology at times. The plan is to keep her for dry weather runs until I run out of space. We also have a v8 Landcruiser and an almost dead Subaru, but this may turn into what you have just bought Couchy. Great number plate btw. Trying to find the right mix is tricky especially with all the insurance and Rego's.
