Eastman early Multi-panel Irvin

Here are some pictures of an early ELC later War Irvin in a size 42. It needed at little TLC when it arrived. I have replaced part of the worn hem and bottom of the cuffs with WW2 fleece. The skin is quite remarkable having loads of character and has been mistaken for an original. The fleece is also spot on for an original. Eastman have used thicker horsehide for the belt, collar back, collar strap and zip pullers than is used on their current RAF jackets, which also adds to the vintage feel of the jacket. It is extremely well made and better constructed than most later War originals. These early multi-panel jackets are really rare and this one is a great daily wearer.

Quite correct Peter. It should not be on the jacket and I understand it still features on their current Devon fleece jackets. Whilst the strap can be removed, removing the eyelets would damage the collar back and that is why I have left them in situ.

What a superb jacket and a quality restoration Andrew.
I must start losing weight if I am ever to find a jacket such as an early ELC or cockpit, as not many appear in size 48".
I have bene told that the early Aero Irvins were also as good, any comments?

I think I'm getting the shearling bug finally, that is a nice one! If I do venture down that road it'd be between a B3 or Irvin such as yours, without the neck brace as in the face on pic though - LOL!!!
Cheers
