Buzz Rickson A2's

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this has been raised in the past.
I was admiring the HPS website and finally had a look at the Buzz Rickson offerings- they never appealed to me in the past.... never seemed to offer fittings for tall customers.

I saw they are offering original maker HH A2's with a waxed finish?
They also state that they are accurate because the leather hanger tab covers the top half of the label??

They seem to have a good following here for their cloth/nylon jackets but what do you guys think of their A2's?

I'm not sure about how common the obscured label was throughout the original contract, but I do know that John Chapman is VERY detail-oriented, and does not include this 'feature' in pics of his United Sheeplined repro on the GW website....

It was not uncommon for the top part of the label to be obscured by the hanger on Wartime A2s and also on B-3s.

First I've heard of this on A2's

Here are a couple of examples of United Sheeplined labels.

In this case, Buzz Rickson (or HPA) is stating that their United Sheeplined A-2 is accurate because of the obscured label. It alludes that the entire United Sheeplined A-2 contract was made like that.. Which clearly (thanks to the pics posted above) isn't correct..

and a leather hanger sewn into the neck area that partially obscures the top lines of text on the neck label vs. the leather hangers found on most A-2 Flight Jackets, where the hanger is sewn above the top of the neck label. Other distinctive features of United Sheeplined A-2 Flight Jackets have, of course, been correctly duplicated........

I personally have had a Buzz Rickson United Sheeplined in the so called waxy HH. It's a decent leather, good thickness and drape while still has a handful of firmness. The jacket pattern fits well but at the time I had no comparison with originals or other repros. It fit almost like a Gibson Barnes, quite athletic and comfortable. I regret I sold it. I regret I sold most of my previous top A2s (many contracts from GW, Eastman, Gibson Barnes, Aero).
