Help Protect the CC41 mark for the Nation, Sign this petition

I found out this weekend that an individual is trying to register the CC41 mark as a registered trade mark.
Until now it had always been "Free to use", a bit like the Union Jack.
Now one individual is trying to cash in on it.
Aero could sucessfully oppose the registration of the CC41 mark under the "Previous Use" law, we've been using it for decades but we don't feel it should be owned by anyone, even ourselves :>) If we opposed it then it would be awarded to us. (Some may recall Highwayman Trade Mark Lewis Leather v. Aero Leather)
Siobham Moore is fighting the registration for the love of the design and what it stands for, she contacted us for help last weekend, we are doing what we can to help her, perhaps those of you who feel ther mark belongs to the Nation could add your name to our petition....see below

My petition:

To consider protecting CC41&11011 the historic symbols under IPO article 6_ter

I would like you to consider protecting the historic expired marks CC41 and 11011 under article 6_ter or equivalent Non EU regulation so that it remains free to use by the people and not that of sole property of an individual so that they are able to gain financial reward.

It recently came to my attention that an individual has successfully published the iconic CC41, I intend to fully challange the Mark personally and have appealed and invited the millions of Brits to join me in this campaign, so that the trademark CC41 is not granted solely to the individual Mr Douglas Steward, further information of this can be found on the IPO website under the words "CC41" The double 11s symbol 11011, another iconic symbol I also wish you to consider protecting.

Some of Britains top designers were engaged to design the furniture and clothing - click on the 'see also' link at the bottom of the wiki.article. It doesn't mention top furniture designers here but I'm sure I've read that elsewhere.

It beggars belief that such classic graphic design could ever be 'claimed' and that anyone would want to take it away from the public demain.
It's just wrong.

Same thing happened on the Northern Soul scene whereby one individual registered the original logo of the Twisted Wheel club, steeped in history and hallowed-ish ground. He did it to promote his own events. Greed plain and simple.

Will keep 'em peeled for the petition and spread the word.

A friend who owns a retro clothing shop produced a line of t shirts with the CC41 logo on the chest - I was caught on camera wearing one on a 'Bargain Hunt' tv programme filmed at Lincoln Antiques Fair a couple of years ago. Its a good shirt it'd be a shame if it suddenly became illegal for me to wear it. Rob

Good news, the claimant has been finally refused registration of the CC41 mark, that's mainly to Siobhan Moore but thanks to all who signed her petition.
So far the IPO haven't protected it as a historic mark but Siobhan has asked for this to be done and now the final decision rests with the IPO

Although Aero could have quite easily registered the mark under "previous use" (We've used it off an on for over 25 years and are currently using the mark on over a dozen products) we also believe that no one person or company should own such an iconic symbol of history
